Growing up, the honey and turmeric mask was always a tradition to me. At Bengali bridal showers, in our culture, we actually go through a process of “beautifying” the bride. Her guests come and put the turmeric mask all over her body and later she is given a formal shower where the guests drench her with buckets of water.
As I got older, I realized this tradition actually came with tons of health and beauty benefits.
The turmeric basic face mask is easy to make and acts as a moisturizer, exfoliator and reduces redness. It also brightens the skin and makes it look fresh and clean.
With winter around the corner, this is the perfect mask. The turmeric is known to give your face a glowy look which many of us lose when we get less sun. Additionally, the honey is an amazing agent that seals in moisture and keeps your skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bottom. This is perfect since the weather change this time of year tends to cause a lot of dryness in skin.
Pros:
- All natural
- Inexpensive, all ingredients can be found in your kitchen.
- Both honey and turmeric are anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory so they are amazing at treating acne, eczema, rosacea.
- It promotes a lot of healing and anti-aging.
Cons:
- This mask stains anything around you. Be very careful and ready to make a bit of a mess when making this mask.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of raw organic honey
Optional ingredients:
Milk, Yogurt, Lemon Juice
The process is very simple:
- Prepare your teaspoon of turmeric and teaspoon of honey
- Mix ingredients until the consistency is like a paste
- Apply the mask on your face and leave on for 30 minutes.
- Rinse off with a gentle cleanser.
- Repeat once a month, and more often if you have acne prone skin
Enjoy ! And feel free to leave me with more questions in the blog comments below.
I would be happy to answer them.

Stephanie,
Once a week or even 4 times a week is perfectly fine with this mask unless you truly notice any issues which most people never experience.
I would recommend exfoliating often as that really helps dull skin. Perhaps use baking soda for a mask every 2 weeks and when you wash the mask off it actually exfoliates your skin and exposes the newer healthier skin. I think you would love the results.
For cleanser I actually love to use any products from Biore. They are not necessarily anything close to natural but they give me great results. I would continue using the coconut oil moisturizer as well as you can never go wrong with that.
Ana, how are you. This mask is actually perfect to use daily if need be. Perhaps if anything switch what you mix with the turmeric. Plain yogurt or milk are really great options as well.
This mask is one of the best options to regulate your oil. Additionally for coverage throughout the day I would recommend applying Milk Of Magnesia(drugstore product) with cotton on your skin. It mattes your face to keep from showing oil throughout the day.

Hey Marshah! I would be happy to dive into my skincare and health and fitness in upcoming posts. I actually eat everything but my diet does consist heavily of vegetarian and fish. I do naturally limit my intake on other foods as especially with age I can really feel the difference when I eat something not as healthy.
I love your blog, and you are gorgeous. Could you do a skincare and health fitness routine please, what moisturisers or oils you use, are you vegan or vegetarian and how you keep your body in shape. Thank you.
I have oily skin and my pores are not huge but definitely could shrink on my nose a bit more (i do have break outs from time to time but my skin has improved over time). How many times a week would you suggest for oily skin ? Are there any other natural remedies that you recommend ?
